In the early 1960s, with the growth of libraries and the increase in the number of librarians, the need for an association that coordinates the activities of Iranian librarians seemed necessary, so the Iranian Library Association was established in the early 1960s.
In 2016, the Governing Board of Iranian Library and Information Science Association (ILISA) approved and published the regulations of the Information Science Specialists congress in line with the needs of the professional community of information science fields. In these regulations some national awards for Professionals whom have had an impact in the field of information science considered.
In the 7th Congress, which will be held with the theme of entrepreneurship, employment and knowledge-based professional businesses in information sciences, national awards are also considered. After the initial evaluation of the scientific committee of the national awards, the received works will be submitted to the jury for final evaluation. Selected works will be introduced and honored at the end of the congress.
The awards of the 7th Congress are:
Ø Poori Soltani National Award ; for the best professional activities and practical tools in the field of science.
Ø Dr. Abbas Horri National Award; for the best work, Research Project, theoretical article in the field of science;
Ø Noorallah Moradi National Award for the best activity/work in the field of archives (documentary centers and audio-visual archives);
Ø Noosh Afarin Ansari National Award ; for the best activist in the field of books and librarianship who has been the source of prominent services in this field and has been produced and published in the last 3 years.
Ø Also, this year, Dr. Jafar Mehrad’s national award will be given to one of the activists in the field of library and information science entrepreneurship which is produced and published from the beginning of 2021 to the end of 2022,
